We start from the beginning and show you everything you need to know to become an efficient, successful bartender from day one of your new job. All classes are set in our fully functional, realistic bar/nightclub environment, not a classroom. You'll use real equipment and you'll learn from real bartenders about everything from setting up shop to breaking it down at the end of the night.
We welcome all prospective students to visit one of our three locations, tour the facilities, meet with our staff, and even observe a class for free, with absolutely no obligation.
New classes begin every two weeks, so stop by any time!

Our course is all-inclusive. Here are just some of the major details that we'll cover:
A bartender's job is more than just mixing drinks. Every class, we'll have you practice setting up and closing down your bar, both importance steps in the daily process. Practice makes perfect, and when you move on to your job in the field, you'll have the confidence you need to manage your bar with ease.
What bartending course would be complete without drink recipes? Using proven memory techniques (a Jolly Rancher is a "Pretty Awesome Candy"—P for peach schnapps, A for apple schnapps, and C for cranberry juice) and a lot of hands-on practice, you'll leave Mix 'em Up knowing how to make more than 150 different cocktails.
We'll also show you all the customary garnishes, how to cut fruit to maximize visual appeal, and optionally, we can even teach you bar magic and flair bartending skills (such as bottle flipping) to impress your customers in the appropriate venues.
Additionally, being able to deal with a busy night crowd is as important as anything else, so we will help you develop skills (such as accurate free-pouring) and confidence in dealing with many customers at one time, serving them quickly and efficiently. We'll also tell you how to keep your customers happy, staying longer, and spending more money. Happy customers means more tips for you!
We make no assumptions about your prior experience at Mix 'em Up, so our course includes information you'll need to know about the different kinds of beer, wine, spirits, cordials, and more. We cover brand names, classifications, customary serving methods, and even the history and origins of the more top-shelf items.
At Mix 'em Up, everything "but the booze" is real. You'll get hands-on experience with all of the tools of the trade, including beer taps, soda guns, glassware, ice machines, bar sinks, and cash registers. There's no "faking it" here—everything works, so you'll know how to use it.
Knowing how to serve alcohol responsibly, and how to handle money, are vital to keeping your job. We'll teach you how to recognize intoxication, how to check IDs of all kinds, and how to keep track of tabs, as well as credit card processing, running POS (point-of-sale) systems, and more. We'll even teach you how to approach a new job interview and how to land it.
For students who are interested in running their own business as a private bartender, we have a wealth of information about getting started on that path as well.
